Heal Our Land

Bible Text=> 2 Kings 2:19-22.
The etymology of the word “healed” conveys an end to a thing and the renewal of health. Everyone needs healing in one form or the other, an end to the unpleasant in our lives.

Let’s study 2 Kings 2:19-22 (our text).

    1. The situation of the city was pleasant. But something was wrong; the water was bitter and the ground was barren (verse 19).
    2. The men of the city sought God’s help through His prophet (verse 19).
    3. The prophet gave them direction “bring me a new cruse and put salt therein.” (verse 20).
    4. They obeyed the prophet and their waters were healed (verse 20b-22).

Our lives remain similar to the people in our text. Everything God created was good (see Genesis 1:31). The situation was pleasant because we don’t need to stress ourselves as God has created everything we need before creating us (see Genesis 1:3-27). But something happened, the enemy came and planted bitterness in our lives as a result of the fall (see Genesis 3:1-19). And he– the enemy, made us barren (spiritually etc).

Glory be to God for His mercies. He made another way for us through His only Son— Jesus Christ— to save us from our sins and to heal our land. Though this provision is for all men,it will only work for those who seek it, those who chose the right path (see Deuteronomy 30:19-20).

Healing can only work for those who seek God through Jesus Christ and obey His instruction in 2
Chronicles 7:14 (a must-read). You need to turn from your wicked ways before your land can be healed.

“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” Isaiah 1:19.
