PRAYING ARIGHT || ACCEPTABLE PRAYERS

When it comes to asking God for something in prayer, there is a right and a wrong way to ask.

Apostle James tells us in James 4:3,”Ye ask,and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lust.” Some people don’t receive answers to their prayers because they pray amiss. You must come to God with the right attitude and motive if you hope to receive answers to your prayers (Matthew 6:5-15, 7:7-11,Philippians 4:6).
THE ELEMENTS OF ACCEPTABLE PRAYERS

    1. You must pray in the name of Jesus (John 14:14).
    2. You must pray in faith (Matthew 21:22).
    3. Pray according to the will of God (Mark 14:32-36; Romans 8:27).
    4. You should also pray in the Spirit (1 Corinthians 14:2).
    5. Pray with understanding (1 Corinthians 14:13-17).

HINDERANCES TO PRAYERS

    1. It was a satanic hinderance that withheld the answer to Daniel’s prayer for 21 days (Daniel 10:12-13; Ephesians 6:12).
    2. Vain repetition (Matthew 6:7).
    3. Unbelief (James 1:6-7).
    4. A wrong motive (James 4:3).
    5. Sin or disobedience (Psalm 66:18).
    6. Selfishness (Proverbs 1:13).
    7. Pride (Hosea 5:5-7).
    8. Lack of forgiveness (Mark 11:25-26).
    9. Disharmony in the home (1 Peter 3:7).
    10. Religious hypocrisy (Isaiah 1:11-15).
    11. Rebellion against hearing God’s word (Proverbs 1:24-25,28).
    12. Idolatry (Ezekiel 14:1-7).
    13. Deceit and injustice (Jeremiah 5:25-31).

.
When you pray, you must do it right. Don’t be proud, arrogant or over-demanding in your prayer as though God owes you something. Rather, pray in humility and in accordance with His Word (James 4:6).God bless you as you obey.
