An image is a complete replica of a thing. Thus, the image of God is the likeness of God (see Gen 1:26).
This IMAGE can be explained in two ways:
1. Literal meaning
2. In-depth meaning.
However, emphasis shall be laid on the indepth meaning
The Image of God means to be like God in everything (1 Peter 1:15-16). If you are like God, you will follow His steps and do His will ONLY. If you are not like God (i.e to obey Him etc), then you are not a Christian. This is not a matter of christianity by religion but by lifestyle (Christianity by religion can’t take one anywhere)
Things to emulate from God
1. Being zealous (John 5:17)
2. Being kind (Ephesians 4:32)
3. Being merciful, just like God in John 3:16
4. Being holy, for God is holy (1 Peter 1:16).
¤It is a wrong assumption to think that you can not live holy. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phillipians 4:13), all you need to do is to pray for the help of the Holy Spirit.
As Christians, we must:
* Thank God, praise Him and worship Him all the time: Don’t COMPLAIN, this is the habit of the so-called christians. Praise God in the storm (1 Thess. 5:18).
* Glorify God in your lifestyle -dressing, manner of speech, thoughts, etc.
* Honour God with your substance, Pay tithes, offering and first fruit(Prov 3:9)
* Be a cheerful giver (Gen. 18:2:8)
* Work for God (evangelism)-Mark 16:15.
* Do away with pride: Do not feel superior as some christians love to isolate themselves from others, thinking that they are better than them. Christianity is all about LOVE (Jesus Christ ate with sinners). But, be careful (through the help of the Holy Spirit) when dealing with unbelievers–1 Corinthians 10:12.
* Read your Bible and pray everyday
* Finally, be OBEDIENT.
